SOUTH AFRICA CARE MISSIONS
South Africa Care Missions – A short history of its beginnings
The South Africa Care Missions ( SACM) was formally established in 1997.
It has its roots and beginning years in the early 1990’s when the Missions Mobilization of the AOG Western Cape Association was formed. The first committee consisted of Sophia Roman, Ronald Sabotkar, Desiree Swartz and Godfrey Williams.
Pastor Peter Pass who was already involved in local missions since 1973 was approached to merge with the Missions Mobilization under the banner of the South Africa Care Missions. Thus both Foreign and Local Missions would be under the umbrella body of the Missions Mobilization of the WCA.
Pastor Peter Pass emerged as the trailblazer and forerunner of the SACM who undertook numerous outreaches to different parts of the Western Cape and other provinces.
Since 2004 the Namaqualand Region in the Northern Cape became their main focus. Here a very successful church plant took place in Nababeep in 2004. Today its a vibrant church community under the leadership of Pastor Peter Diomi.
Other places that were reached with the gospel in the Namaqualand Region include places like: Steinkopf, Concordia, Okiep, Kommagas, Leliefontein, Pella, Aggeneys (a mining town) Hondeklipbaai, Onseepkans etc.
After the passing of Pastor Peter Pass in May 2023 the interim leadership was appointed by the WCA Missions Board in the persons of Peter Diomi and Henry Cockrell.
